To conclude Cancer Awareness Month, Yango, a prominent ride-hailing service under Yango Group, partnered with Standout Care to provide free health screenings in Accra on November 2, 2024. Held at the Makola Market, the initiative benefited over 400 partner drivers, couriers, their families, and passengers, aiming to promote preventive healthcare and cancer awareness, particularly among women.
The event offered a comprehensive range of health checks, including breast and prostate exams, general medical screenings, ultrasound scans, lab tests, eye and dental checks, and nutritional counseling. Many beneficiaries also received free medication. Standout Care’s Founder, Dr. Patrick Fynn, highlighted the importance of preventive care and early detection, noting this as the third partnership with Yango within a year to prioritize the health of drivers and market traders.
Yango’s Ghana Country Manager, Mr. Tom Ofonime, emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to the well-being of its partner drivers and couriers, reinforcing the importance of regular screenings for early detection and prevention. He explained, “We partnered with Standout Care to raise awareness among market women and promote a culture of health consciousness.”
A trader at Makola Market, Mrs. Faustina Appau, shared her gratitude for the health initiative, stating, “As market women, we rarely have time for health checks. Thanks to Yango, we can now ensure our well-being and detect issues like breast cancer early on.”
Yango’s commitment to community welfare is evident through other recent programs, including a free data analytics course in Python & SQL, safety training for drivers, and this extensive health screening. The Yango Group continues to bridge global innovation with local impact, ensuring health, education, and safety for diverse communities.
