Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential campaign, has announced that over 40 hospitals built under the Agenda 111 initiative are fully constructed and ready for commissioning. Speaking on Joy News’s AM Show with Benjamin Akakpo, Aboagye confirmed that these hospitals, part of the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government’s ambitious Agenda 111 project, will soon be operational.
“Between 45 and 47 of them will be commissioned before the end of the year,” Aboagye stated, emphasizing that the hospitals are complete and nearly ready, with equipment installation ongoing. Approximately five of these hospitals are located in the Ashanti Region, and they are anticipated to play a crucial role in improving healthcare services in the area.
Agenda 111, officially called Ghana’s Priority Health Infrastructure Projects, aims to address the healthcare needs across Ghana. The initiative includes plans for seven regional hospitals, two regional psychiatric hospitals (for the northern and middle belt zones), and a national psychiatric hospital in Accra.
If elected in the 2024 presidential elections, Dr. Bawumia pledges to complete the remaining projects under Agenda 111. This initiative represents an investment of approximately $7.65 billion and is part of the government’s long-term strategy to enhance healthcare infrastructure across the nation.
