Mother-Love Hospital’s journey began in January 2001 when it was founded by Mr. Kwasi Nkansa, the First CEO of the facility, and Mrs. Margaret Nkansa, who served as the First Matron of the facility. Initially established as a Maternity Home with just three staff members, the hospital’s name, “Mother-Love,” reflects the profound love and care exhibited by the late Mrs. Margaret Nkansa towards her family, clients, and everyone she encountered.
During its formative years, Mother-Love Hospital operated out of the outhouse of Mr. and Mrs. Nkansa’s residence in Fafraha. However, as the hospital’s reputation and demand for its services grew, it became evident that expansion was necessary. In November 2007, Mother-Love Hospital relocated to its current location on the Adenta-Dodowa Road in Accra, providing a more spacious and accessible facility for its expanding patient base. As Mother-Love Hospital continued to flourish, it received certification from the Ghana Private Hospitals and Maternity Homes Board in December 2008, allowing it to operate as a clinic. Subsequently, in November 2009, the hospital was granted Primary Hospital Certificate Status, a testament to its commitment to delivering comprehensive healthcare services.
