In a life-changing initiative, the Brogya Foundation and RESTORE Worldwide Inc. have joined forces to provide over 200 free reconstructive surgeries at the Agogo Asante Akyem Presbyterian Hospital. The collaboration between these two organizations has brought hope and a renewed quality of life to individuals living with severe physical deformities, from congenital conditions to trauma-related and burn injuries.
The Brogya Foundation, founded by Nana Bediako Brogya Sarpong, the Dompiahene of Asante Akyem Agogo, partnered with RESTORE Worldwide Inc., led by renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng. Together, their mission is to provide free, life-altering medical care to children and adults who cannot afford such surgeries.
Over a week, Dr. Obeng led a dedicated team of global volunteers from RESTORE Worldwide in performing complex surgeries to correct deformities and help patients regain confidence and a sense of normalcy. The surgeries not only addressed physical challenges but also served as a pathway to restoring dignity for the patients.
At a mini-durbar held before the surgeries, Nana Bediako Brogya Sarpong shared his hope that this initiative would leave a lasting impact, stating, “These surgeries are about more than physical healing; they are about restoring dignity and providing a brighter future for those who have long faced the challenges of visible deformities.”
Dr. Paa-Ekow Hoyte Williams, Director of Medical Affairs at RESTORE Worldwide Foundation, emphasized the importance of the mission, describing it as a “tremendous relief” for those in need of reconstructive surgery. Often prohibitively expensive, these surgeries are out of reach for many Ghanaians.
