Dr. Kofi Addo-Agyekum had his primary, secondary and tertiary education in Ghana. He studied Pharmacy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where he graduated in 1994 with a B PHARM. (Hons) Degree. He thereafter sat and passed the Ghana Pharmacy Council Professional Qualifying Exams in 1995 and acquired the Pharmacy Council License to practice as a registered pharmacist. Upon graduation, he took a yearlong pharmaceutical internship across different European countries.

He returned to Ghana in late 1995 and undertook his national service with the Pharmacy Board after which he joined Kama Health Services in 1996. Starting as a pharmacist, he rose through the ranks and became the Managing Director of Kama Health Services and General Manager of the Kama Group. While at Kama, he extended the reach of the pharma business to the northern and southern sectors of the country and led the company to become a Ghana Club 100 Company. He was with Kama for 18 years.

In 2015, Dr. Kofi Addo-Agyekum took up the challenge to start Kofikrom Pharmacy Limited where he serves currently as the Chief Executive Officer. Kofikrom Pharmacy Limited is a Ghanaian owned pharmaceutical company that currently has 2 major outlets in Accra and over 100 strategic distributors in all the regions of Ghana. Under his leadership, Kofikrom has over 50 dedicated, motivated and well-groomed staff and has 80 branded generic pharmaceutical products registered with the FDA which are very efficacious, available, affordable and accessible nationwide.

In 2008, Pharm. Kofi Addo-Agyekum earned an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). On 26th January 2024 School of Pharmacy at the University of Ghana, Legon conferred Doctor of Pharmacy on Dr. Kofi Addo-Agyekum

He is passionate about supporting lesser-known and funded sports and has founded the K-Balm and T-20 Armwrestling Clubs in the La community to encourage awareness and participation in the sport. With his support, team Ghana won 88 medals in the Africa Arm-wrestling Championship held in Accra in 2018. He sponsored four talented Ghanaian Arm wrestlers to participate in/represent Ghana in the World Armwrestling Championship 2018 in Turkey. The sponsorship extensively exposed the sport to the three sportsmen and one woman as far as global best practices in Armwrestling is concerned.

Within the period of 2018 to 2021, he won the following awards:

  • “Most Promising Entrepreneur of the year, 2018’’ at the Ghana Entrepreneur & Corporate Executive Awards
  • ‘’CEO of the Year in 2020’’ at the Ghana Industry CEO Awards
  • ‘’Outstanding Pharmaceutical Entrepreneur of the year 2020’’ at the 11th Ghana Entrepreneur & Corporate Executive Awards
  • ‘’Promising Entrepreneur of the year’’ at the Ghana Pharma Awards
  • ‘’Baron Healthcare Sector Award’’ at the Business standard Awards -2021.

He is a Founding Member and National Executive Council Member of Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy. He was the Chairman of the Global Fund Initiative of the Private Sector Co-payment Mechanism for Malaria management from 2010 to 2019, the Co-Chair of the Ghana Pharmaceutical Traceability Project Technical Working Group and the Vice Chairman of Africa Pharmaceutical Distribution Association.

He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, Member of Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association (PIWA) and Member of the Suhyen Citizens Association. He is the National Vice President and Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation and currently the Vice President of Africa Armwrestling and the President of the West Region of Africa.

He loves to read motivational and autobiographical literature. He also enjoys traditional Ghanaian music and going back to his roots to reconnect with his childhood countryside experiences in Begoro and Suhyen. He currently lives in Accra with his family.
